In October 2023, the TMEIC Group\u2019s greenhouse gas emission reduction targets were certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) that the targets are based on scientific evidence. This accreditation demonstrates TMEIC\u2019s commitment to actively addressing environmental issues through its business activities based on the understanding that it is a fundamental responsibility as a member of society to pass on our irreplaceable Earth to the next generation in a healthy state.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The accredited targets are as follows.<\/p>\n
Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corporation commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by FY2030 from a FY2020 base year. Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corporation also commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 52.56% per yen value added within the same timeframe.<\/p>\n
\u3000TMEIC upholds the corporate philosophy of\u3000\u201cbuilding relationships of trust with customers and contributing to the sustainable development of a global society as an industrial systems integrator.\u201d Under this philosophy, which has been upheld since its establishment, TMEIC aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the supply chain by promoting energy conservation and the use of renewable energy in business activities, and by developing and providing products with low CO2 emissions in its own company and supply chain.\u00a0<\/p>\n

*SBT is an international initiative established in 2015 by CDP, World Resources Institute (WRI), World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), which verifies and certifies whether greenhouse gas reduction targets are consistent with the level required by the Paris Agreement based on scientific evidence.\u00a0<\/p>\n
*Scope 1, 2, and 3 are the calculation criteria for GHG emissions according to the GHG Protocol, an international framework for greenhouse gas accounting and reporting. Scope 1 refers to direct emissions from the company\u2019s own operations, Scope 2 refers to indirect emissions from energy sources such as electricity, heat, and steam purchased and used by the company, and Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions beyond Scope 2, involving other companies linked to the company\u2019s business activities.<\/p>\n
