TMEIC Files Additional Patent Infringement Lawsuit Related to Its Uninterruptible Power Systems

– Investigation into Import Ban Initiated by the Korea Trade Commission –

TMEIC Corporation (President & CEO: Akira Kawaguchi; hereinafter, “TMEIC” or “the Company”) newly filed a petition for a preliminary injunction to stop patent infringement related to its uninterruptible power systems (UPS) patents against Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa, Tokyo) at the Tokyo District Court on November 11, 2024. A patent infringement lawsuit was also initiated on November 12, 2024. This filing is part of a series of patent infringement actions concerning TMEIC UPS, as announced on October 2, 2024*1 .

TMEIC has filed numerous patent applications related to the control and structure of its UPS, aimed at improving conversion efficiency, reducing power consumption and developing more compact and lightweight units.

The lawsuit filed on October 2, 2024 concerned the UPS circuit configuration, while the current lawsuit relates to the control and structure.

In addition, TMEIC filed an application with the Korea Trade Commission to block the import of Fuji Electric’s UPS due to infringement of its South Korean patent right, and an investigation was officially initiated on October 30, 2024.

TMEIC regards intellectual property rights as a key management resource. Moving forward, if the Company determines that its intellectual property rights have been infringed upon, it will take strict and appropriate action.
